Mitsubishi Repair: eclipse gt knocking noise, eclipse gt, weight oil

I have a 2000 gt and it recently started making a knocking noise. is there a way i can fix it myself or at least try to find out what is causing it? i dont have tons of money yet, and this is my dream car :D i want to help her.

Jae: You could try changing the oil and putting a heavier weight oil. Such as 10/30 weight, but also go get some engine conditioner or something that says it will quiet the noise in an engine. Well try that, other wise it might be something on the order of a problem in the engine. But let's try different oil or that engine conditioner to see if that might help.
