Mitsubishi Repair: Eclipse Motor Problem, blown head gasket, turbo boost controller

Question
QUESTION: I have a problem with my 97 eclipse gsx.  The problem is that whenever i drive my car, my coolant would always be depleting and is my oil also.  My coolant would deplet to the point that my car almost fired up, and when i checked my radiator, its cold and not hot.  So then i check the radiator flow bucket and there are still fuild in there but none in the radiator.  So i put in new radiator fluid into the radiator and drove it for a while and then check and the radiator would be cold and empty.  Would it be that i have a blown head gasket or a blown block motor, because it eating the coolant like crazy.

ANSWER: Yang: I would try replacing the radiator cap as it might not be doing its job. One way to know if you blew or have a bad head gasket, is your car blowing white smoke out of the exhaust. If so then the head gasket is weak or blown because then water is getting into the oil; so the car is now burning a mix of water and oil. Does the temp on the car go up pass the hot side? I would check also the water pump, maybe the belt is slipping that runs the water pump, your car's thermostat could be bad and needs to be replaced, should check the hoses could be they should be replaced, could be the drain on the bottom of the radiator is leaking. But still if the car is blowing white smoke out of the exhaust then it is the head gasket but if not. Then check these other things. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda

QUESTION: This problem occured when i adjusted the boost pressure on my turbo boost controller, since my car is turbo manufacture, so after i did that my car run ok but after awhile, i notice  my temperature gauge going up, it went to the critical mark spot, so when i check my radiator, the cap is on tight, and the radiator dump bucket is full but spewing bobbles turning the remaining radiater fuild inthere from green to light gree, and when i felt my radiator, it was cold not hot, so i open up the radiator cap, there was smoke coming out like crazy, then i ran out of oil, so i had to replenish the oil, now when i put new radiator fuild inthere, it bubbles and sizzle, and then i would keep adding fuild and hoping it would cool down, which it did, but when i run the car, it would evaporate alrady, so i'm hoping that it could be a blown head gasket and not a blown or crack block, when i first open the hood, there were smoke coming from the radiator cap and thermostate, but there were also smoke coming from the back of the enjine underneath the injecter area, could that cuase the problem too. I'm hope that its not a blown motor or crack block, and hoping it would be a blown head gasket.

Answer
Yang: You need to get that car into a shop, like right now. I would say if you are runing out of oil and the car is over heating it is not a good sign. So get that car into a shop to have it fixed or they will be able to tell you what is going on with your car. I hope that it is just a head gasket too. Take care now, God bless: Linda
