Mitsubishi Repair: Cruise control and brake light, cruise control, outlander

Question
I have a 2003 Outlander and the cruise control stopped working, a repair shop couldn't figure it out. About a week later I was pulled over because a rear brake light was out, no ticket thank God. After I replaced the brake light the cruise control started working again. Is there a connection between those problems?

Answer
Michael: The brake light being out was a bulb that you replaced, right? It was not the whole brake light set up. The cruise control is a piece that is in the engine, it controls the speed through the engine; though you can turn it off when you step on the brake. I guess I would have that shop of your's check to see if you might have a short in the wiring that runs from turning on the brake lights to shutting off that cruise control. Hope this helped and good luck! Linda
