Mitsubishi Repair: 30A motor fuse blowing, eclipse gs, black boxes

Question
I was recently driving around my 95 Eclipse GS and it blew the #1 30A motor fuse (I pressed no buttons and changed nothing, it blew on its own).  I replaced it and it blew yet again upon starting the car.  The car did start, but died immediately afterwards.  I have checked and rechecked for grounded wires and found nothing.  It appears that this wire only feeds a few relays and the computer, and I have checked all i can find and no luck.  Is there something I am missing or am i going in the wrong direction?  Can something other than a short somewhere along this specific wire cause this fuse to blow?  Thanks so much this thing has stumped me for almost a month.

Answer
Trevor: You need to have your car coded, as your problem could be the computer. See Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers to another company. Which did not build very good ones, with time a piece in the computer will start to leak into the computer. Once this starts to happen it will kill off the computer with time. So by having the car coded, it should tell you if you have one of those computers. Have you checked the computer? And checked all the relays, in with the engine is three black boxes in them are large fuses and relays. If you have checked them all, I would get a flashlight and check them again. Sometimes a relay will look ok, till you shine a flashlight through it. Only when can you see that the relay is broken. Could be though that there is a broken wire someplace or one that is touch something it shouldn't. You might have to get a voltmeter, repair manual for your car as you will need to know the right readings. Most parts stores having them for around $20.00. Starting with the battery, work yourself around the car, till you find the short. I hope one of these ideas will help you and good luck! Linda
