Question
my 95 dohc diamante will start easily one day, and then the next wont start.Mech. added better cables to battery. have replaced battery 3 times, car has 116k miles on it , i have owned it since 16k. 2 months ago replaced condensor pully & ignition switch, sellenoid in starter, this problem has been going on for 6 years.( 2 months ago on the alarm the mechanic cut the wires cause the door locks went up & down when i used keyless entry.) I could stop get gas, &
the car wont start, all other electric seems fine, if I twist the wheel sometimes after 3 or so tries it will start. sometimes when it wont start, & you will hear a loud buzz, coming from behind the glovebox,  the door has never closed tightly enough, and if you push it in with your foot, it will usually start.  until this time.  the light in the glove box does not work,
the car also has added a 10 disc changer,
any ideas, i know the glove box thing seems weird.
after the mechanic did the work on the ignition last time, it worked well for about a month, he has it now to replace ball joints, and is trying to find the problem.
it always starts after it is jumped, almost immediately

Answer
Terri: Have you ever had the car coded? As to check all the sensors and the computer. The noise from the glove box my guess would be the computer making noise. Your car is the right year for bad computers, as Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers to another company which did not build very good ones. With time a piece will start to leak into the computer and that will kill off the computer. But during that time the computer does all kinds of odd things to the car, one of them that the car does not want to start. So I would have that computer checked. If by turning the wheel, the car will sometimes start. Sounds like a short in the wiring in the steering wheel column, get your guy working on your car to take that column cover off. The fact that someone added a 10 disc changer, they most likely did not put it in right, I mean in the wiring and messed up something very important for the car's starting. You turn the key for that car to start and it causes a lot of power to make everything work right. So if someone put a wire into a wire they shouldn't have when hooking up that 10 disc changer they could have messed with a lot of things. That might not show up till years down the road. The light in the glove box would be a fuse or a burnt out light I think, something to check. But do you know how many wires run into the steering wheel column? There are a lot of them, so maybe your guy working on your car will have to get a voltmeter, his repair manual to know the readings and check them to see if any of them are touching another or messing up with the readings. I hope this helps and good luck! Linda
