Mitsubishi Repair: 94 mitsubishi auto overheating, thermostat temperature, radiator core


Question
I have a 94 mitsubishi automatic .6 months ago had head replaced.I blew a hose that feeds into heater. Is now over heating again , removed thermostat , temperature gauge still records rising temperature-3/4 towards hot.heater  was running cool when driving, warmed up when stationary.Water was spat out into overflow bottle.When engine turned off.

Colleen: You should never run a car without a thermostat. Not a good idea at all. You should have the water pump checked, my guess is it is bad. Because it is what pushes the water through out the engine to cool it, next would be to check and make sure the fan is kicking on when the engine get to hot, is the fan in good shape in that the blades are not broken or cracked, could be a bad radiator cap as you must maintain proper pressure and one more thing make sure the radiator core is not blocked or grilled restricted so here is some ideas to check. But sure to put that thermostat back in and then make sure you are running the right amount coolant in the system. Water alone does not cut it.Another thing to check is make sure the belts are not slipping. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
