Mitsubishi Repair: no power, eclipse gsx, black boxes

Question
I have a 95 mits. eclipse gsx and i recently lost most of the power electricly to the inside of my car. i don't have any power to my windows, sunroof, cruise control, or my gauges. i do have lights behind my gauges but the needles don't move so i have no idea how fast i go. i've checked all the fuses and havn't found any blown and i don't know what else to check. i thought it was the gauges themselves but i switch it with a friends of mine and got the same results.

Answer
Aaron: I would say you have a large short or a relay out. Could be a large fuse too, did you check those black boxes in with the engine? There is one on the driver's side of the car, up by the fire wall and should be two on the other side of the engine. One close to the battery and one in that area. In those boxes are large fuses and relays. Oh hey don't change things from your car from another. As the computer gets a bit upset when you do this. You could kill off the computer. I have had more people write to say they changed something with someone else's car and that is just not a good idea. If you do you find one of those large fuses or relays bad in one of those boxes, be sure and take the neg cable off the battery, when putting in the new part and then put the cable back on. Other wise you will kill off the new part. If none of those relays or fuses are bad. Oh hey they are often hard to check, so take the fuse out and put a flashlight to it. But if none of those are your problem, then you will have to get a voltmeter, start with the battery working yourself around your car. Till you find the short, but also need to get a repair manual to know what readings you should be getting. Or take the car to a shop and they can find your problem. Hope this helps and good luck!
