Mitsubishi Repair: 99 Mits. Eclipse Spyder, kinds of sensors, electrical specialist

Question
For about 6 months now, my car seems to be possessed.  Some mornings when I go out it starts just fine, however, on days like today, the car seems to have no battery power and wont turn over.  I have changed the battery three times, and 2 mechanics can find no draw.  The strangest thing is that if after I turn the key and it stops cranking, I hold the key in the on position, it will sometimes fire up and turn over.  Otherwise, I get the horrible clicking noise.  I have had this to 3 mechanics, including an electrical specialist.  If I jump the car, for just a few minutes, then turn it off, it will start right back up.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Answer
Dawn: How about coding the car to see what the computer might kick out for you. Or have someone start with the battery working around the car with a voltmeter, as it will show if there is any odd readings going on with your car. I would say that you have a one hell of a large short someplace. In that a wire is touching something, sometimes and not always. I would think that electrical specialist would have gone over the car with the voltmeter to see where all this power is coming from. But still try the coding, which is when you hook your car's computer up to another computer; then that computer readings the car's computer and kicks out a read out. It might explain the problem. Or else try the voltmeter. But still the computer and along with all kinds of sensors in the engine area controls that car. So I hope this helps some and good luck! Linda
