Mitsubishi Repair: horn stuck, blinker wont stay on, and timing belt change needed, left turn signal, montero sport

Question
I have a 2002 Montero Sport ES 3.0 2WD. A number of months ago when my steering wheel/horn was punched the horn stayed on. I have taken from reading some previous posts that the horn switch is prob stuck.  Do I need the entire airbag assembly to be replaced to fix the problem, or is there a way that just the horn switch can be replaced?  Also in an unrelated incident when I try to turn on the blinker to turn left (turning right works) it will not "click" to stay in position which causes me to have to hold down the left turn signal until after the turn is complete...Will this be a complicated fix?  Finally at 94000 miles I need to have my timing belt replaced. I have found alot of different info about other items that should be replaced at the same time...Do you have any suggestions for items that really should be replaced when I have the timing belt changed?  Sorry for the loaded questions.....Thanks for your help. Craig

Answer
Craig: I think with the horn it could be that switch, but I think you might be able to get to the switch by taking the back off the steering wheel detach the horn pad. I mostly work on older cars and so this is but an idea on my part. Before you do any such work, always unhook the neg cable off the battery. I would say with the blinker to turn left a piece has broken off that part inside the steering column and so you will need to replace that piece. All the lights work on the outside of the car, right? If you have a bulb out someplace on the car, then your blinker will not blink. Other wise yes on the complicated fix. When you have the timing belt replaced, when I would do the water pump and the belts at the same time. Not to worry on the loaded questions. I hope you will have that timing belt replaced soon. I know the newer cars say 100,000 miles but I like to do them at 60000 miles, myself. Because if the timing belt goes, it will take the valves. Hope this helps and good luck! ~Linda~
