Mitsubishi Repair: powerlocks failed, fuse box, power locks

Question
Hi Linda, I own a 96' Eclipse and recently the power locks stopped working. I tried to check my passenger fuse box in hopes it was something simple, but I'm not quite sure how to remove the box from underneath the dash. Any tips on how to remove it or what else the problem might be?

Answer
Natalie: You will have to kind of get down on your knees, reach in under the dash and the only thing that will come off the fuse box, would be the cover. It should explain right on the cover how to remove it. But I got to say girl, you car is over 10 years old. And though we would love for those locks to work for the life of the car. They do get dirty and tired. You will most likely have to get a shop to work on them for you. Unless that fuse is blown. I did look up in my repair manual about the locks. It could that a switch or more is out, actuators and associated wiring too. The manual says to check the fuses, then check the switch wiring for damage or loose connections, checking the switches for continuty and then removing the door panels to be able to check the actuator wiring connections for looseness or damage. Also inspect the actuator rods to make sure they are not bend , damged or binding. The manual does say to also check the circuit breaker too. Again I think if it is not a bad fuse, you will need to take your car to a shop to get them to check these things. Or else buy yourself a repair manual for you car and it will explain to you how to do these things. Most parts stores have these repair manuals and they cost around $20.00. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda... ps. I have a 2001 Dodge mini-van. One lock will not work on one door. Don't know why, and can not find the problem. So I hope you have better luck than me.
