Mitsubishi Repair: Oil Light comes on at idle, 2001 mitsubishi mirage, mitsubishi mirage

Question
2001 Mitsubishi Mirage, oil light comes only at idle and only after driving the car for 15  minutes (After it's warmed up). Oil light disappears if accelerator is pressed and during normal driving. Oil level is full/no leaks, no other noticeable effects to the car/performance.

Any ideas?

P.S. any suggestions on where I could purchase a wiring harness specific to mitsubishi/mirage for the radio/cd player?

Answer
John: What weight oil are you putting your car? Do you change it yourself or have a shop do it. To save a bit of money most oil changing places as well as shops have gone to 5W30 weight. For some cars this works just fine but for others it is to light weight. Try putting in a heavier weight oil, like 10W30. If that does not fix the car, then you oil sending unit might be getting weak. And a shop would have to fix that. But still try the heavier weight oil to see if that fixs the problem with the light coming on for a bit. But listen you got to watch those places that you get your oil changed at, they will not want to put in the heavier oil and will try to talk you out it. Or else not put it in at all. So hold your ground and get that heavier oil. Ok? Cool. As for the wiring harness, you could try a junk yard, a dealership or even check the internet. A lot of neat companies doing all kinds of things and selling things too. Hey you could try ebay, they sell all kinds of things. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
