Mitsubishi Repair: OIL SEEP, valve cover gasket, dye test

Question
I have a 1999 mistu ( gtz ) 87,000 on it. I have an oil seep, engine is covered in oil , but does not leek on to floor, could it be the valve cover also does it need to be fixed right away ?

Answer
Christopher,
It's not uncommon for a valve cover gasket to start leaking around 100,000 miles.  Replacing it is relatively easy and inexpensive for most any mechanic.  I would also recommend they do a dye test to see if they can confirm where the oil is leaking from.  The longer you wait to get the oil leak fixed, the worse it's going to get.  If the leaking oil starts to get on the electrical components (ignition coil, alternator, etc.), it could short those out; causing damage and making you spend even more money.  I'd recommend you have this fixed sooner than later.
Good luck!
