Mitsubishi Repair: 2002 mitsubishi diamante, 2002 mitsubishi diamante, tie rod ends

Question
the steering wheel turns very loose like if it were not hooked up to anything, but all components are tight and it does not leak any fluid, very scary to drive this way, what could it be?

Answer
Mark: If it is scaring you then you need to have it all checked to make sure everything is tight. My repair manual says this... looseness in the steering can be caused by wear in the steering shaft universal joints, the steering gear, the tie-rod ends and the loose retaining bolts. Best have this all checked out and when you take it to the shop, explain to them how loose it is so it makes it scary to drive. Because it can not be right if it is that loose. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
