Mitsubishi Repair: Idle trouble, mitsubishi galant, vacuum leak

Question
Car:1995 Mitsubishi Galant S Mileage:129,000

After my car is on park for a few minutes after turning it on,it idles up and down.I forget at how many rpm,but its pretty noticeable.I cant past inspection with this problem.I've also been reading around and found out it could be the IAC motor as opposed to the MAF which is what someone who looked at my car said it was.

Answer
Vin: I would have the car coded, sounds like a weak sensor to me. Like one that is in the throttle body. Like maybe the throttle positon sensor. Other wise my manual says a vacuum leak in the area of the throttle body, leaking EGR valve, the car needs a tune up with stark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel pump not working right, air filter needs to be replaced, leaking head gasket( would be able to tell this if there is white smoke coming out of the exhaust), timing belt worn and low compression. So there are some things to be checking.Oh wait you know that Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers to another company but that company did not build very good computers. A piece in those computers will start to leak into the computer and with time it kills off the computers. One of the ways it shows up is just what your car is doing. I would have the car coded, AutoZone will do this for free and it will rule out any problem with the computer or sensors. I hope this helps and good luck! Linda
