Mitsubishi Repair: 87 mitsubishi Mighty Max, mitsubishi mighty max, wont kick

Hi Linda just bought an 87 MMX, and it was shifting perfect now it wont go past first or second gear. Have changed trans fluid and filter. color was still red. Added Trans fluid helper (lucas fluid). Seems like it wont kick in 3rd until I hit 35 MPH or higher. Vucum hoses are ok fires and starts ok. Bad sensor or relay? appreciate your help :)

Kevin: These Mitsubishi have a sensor that will get the transmission to shift from 2 into 3 or 3 into 4th. You will have to have your car coded, to see if that sensor is weak or bad. Coding is where you take the car to a shop, they plug your  car's computer into their's and it checks to see if there is a problem on the line. Or they might use a voltmeter also to find the problem but either way, they can find out if that sensor is bad. And it really sounds like that to me. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
