Mitsubishi Repair: misfiring colt, misubishi colt, mitsubishi dealers

Question
1998 misubishi colt 1.3. Had a break down and needed the distributor replacing. Garage also replaced stepper motor and two more distributors. Car is very slow on the uphill and on pulling away. Though sometimes will surge and drive at great speed. the fuel consumption is high. I used to get 300 miles from a full tank and now I am lucky to make 150 miles from a full tank. Various garages and mitsubishi dealers have looked at the car with no solutions and now great expense. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Kathryn: I would have your car's computer checked. Or else could be a weak sensor someplace so the computer is not reading something right. So your car is using way to much fuel but still does not have much for power. The computer is what sets the fuel/air mix so the engine can run as it should. Mitsubishi farmed the building of their computers out to another company that did not build very good ones, a piece will start to leak into the computer and with time kills it off. So got an AutoZone close by? They would code your car for free and that would let you know if you have any problems with your car's computer or sensors. So try that see where that might lead you and keep me posted, please. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
