Mitsubishi Repair: gauges, garmin gps units, brain fart

Question
QUESTION: I must be an absolute idiot!! I bought one of those glow sets for my gauges on a 1997 Eclipse and it came with no instructions, so I had a brain fart and just started installing it because I know my way around vehicles and this was no different.....right?.....WRONG!!  I forgot that this part was simple an overlay and I pulled the needles off the gauge faces for the tach and speedo. Once I figured it out, thank goodness I left the other gauges alone. Now, when I finished the install, the tach and speedo are pointing straight up and don't respond unless I get the speed up. How do I reset these back to where they belong?  Hope you know the way!!  Chip
ANSWER: Chip: I hit the wrong answer before. I am going to look into this and get back to you again. I am sorry about all this. I need to check with some friends that did something like this and see what he did. Late night last night and not a wake yet. Linda

QUESTION: Hi Linda, well I was at the fire dept yesterday and we have Garmin GPS units, so I took one out of the rig and put it in the Eclipse, then took it for a spin with the gauges uncovered. Once I held the speed steady on the GPS I placed the needle on the Speedo at the same speed and it works fine. I then checked the idle RPMs in the manual for my vehicle and with the engine idling, I placed the needle on the tach and all is well now. As for the water temp there was a little too much material on the overlay and I trimmed it so it would not interfere with the needle. All gauges work fine and I appreciate your help. Thanks, Chip

Answer
Chip: Glad you got it yourself and you are again enjoying that car of your's. They are such a fun car to drive when everything is working just fine. Ah one of American's best as fireman. Do keep doing the wonderful work you do. I shall add you to my prayers. Thanks for keeping me posted. Have a great Summer. Linda
