Mitsubishi Repair: Hard Start / sputter til warm / knock code, eagle talon, knock sensor

Question
I have a 1991 Eagle Talon.  After the car has sat for a day or two, it has a really hard time starting.  Once I get it going, it idles fine until I put it in gear and under load ... for the first mile or so it sputters and "bogs" to a 750-1000 rpm.  After a few minutes of driving, all is good ... runs like a champ.  I also have a knock code showing up in a "check engine light" ... it's a 2.0 FWD non-turbo ... I thought the knock sensor was only on the turbo? Right?

Thanks

Answer
Stephen: You are right about the knock sensor it is only on the turbo. I guess I would have the car coded again, as there must be a sensor out as to make it run bad till it warms up. That sounds like a sensor. When is the last time you did a good tune up? Distributor cap, rotor, stark plugs, wires and new air filter? You know don't you that Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers to another company that did not build very good ones. With time a piece will start to leak inside the computer and will kill off the computer. So it could be that your car's computer is having problems and sending out the wrong code when you had your car coded. I would get that computer checked just to be on the safe side of things. Sometimes this bad computer will show up with the car not running too when first starting out. The computer might be your problem or it might be aother sensor just not the knock sensor because your car does not have that. Unless it had a turbo on it at one time but will taken off. Just a guess here. I do hope this helps you and good luck! Linda
