Mitsubishi Repair: clutch, clutch cylinder, clutch master

Question
i have a 1999 mitsubishi eclipse with a turbo, the clutch when depressed stays on the floor. I know it has to be the slave cylinder or the master clutch cylinder. I have taken the slave cylinder off and seems to have good pressure do you think even if it seems like it has pressure i should change it out before moving on to check the master clutch cylinder, or what else do you think could be wrong.

Answer
charlie: My repair manual says that would be a fautly or damaged clutch master or slave cylinder. Or a broken release bearing or fork. You need to get yourself a repair manual for your car, not the one that came with it but a repair manual. Can buy one at any parts store for around $20.00 and well worth the money. It will then walk you through what you need to be checking. I would leave the slave cylinder if you found it to have good pressure and be looking at the master cylinder. There are many many hydraulic lines that could be your problem, one of them could be leaking, could be a ring leaking something is not keeping the pressure up so your clutch will work as it should. So you need to get that repair manual, then check what needs to be checked. Other wise take the car to a shop. I did have this trouble in a few cars and more often than not one of the hydraulic lines were leaking or broke. So I would be checking all those, but heck you will just have to start with the slave cylinder which you did but then will have to check the whole system till you find the problem. Hope this helps and good luck!
