Mitsubishi Repair: black powder, foot of snow, black powder

Question
I was washing my car at the car wash and a lot of black like powder wascoming from the front rotor and brake area. What could it be?ould you help me out? Thanks Linda from texas

Answer
Linda: Cool name, lol. Anyway, did you just get new brake pads? Neither way, you have either a carbon pad or a full metallic pad. As the pads wear they put out this dust. If you are one that rides your brakes, zips up to a stop sign and jumps on the brakes; well you will just have a lot of dust and with time have to replace those pads. But heck what are brakes for anyway? You will just have to keep washing those rims, if you get a lot of dust. You will know when you have to replace the pads, as you start to hear a noise when you step on those brakes. Hope this helps you and good luck! Linda from Iowa. Enjoy your weather, I got over a foot of snow over the week-end. Good time to stay home. lol.
