Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Mighty max 3.0 V6 4x4, mitsubishi mighty max, battery work

Question
I'm working on a 92 MMax for a friend. The truck is hard to crank, when you turn the ignition on, all the dash lights come on except the check engine light. It has no spark and no fuel.
If the check engine light comes on when you turn on the ignition switch, the truck has spark and fuel and will fire but is still hard to start. This problem was intermitted but now the check engine light does not come on at all with the other lights on the dash when the key is on, and truck will not crank at all.
When the truck was running it never set a code in the computer for me to check. The coil is energized and the distributor is energized when the key is on but has no spark when the engine turns over. The coil does not get hot.
Now I think it is either the distributor or the computer, but these parts are expensive for an old poor man like me and I don't want to spend my friends money on this stuff and it not fix the truck. I've already bought a cap and rotor because they were in bad condition, I also replaced the ECM relay. None of that helped. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks.

Answer
Joe:Are you in the states or someplace else. AutoZone would check your truck for free, as in code it. That would rule out any problems with sensors or computer. But you said you have no fuel or stark. The coil would only control the stark, not the fuel. So that sounds like a computer problem. You could get a repair manual and a voltmeter, starting with the battery work your way around the truck so see if you can find the sensor that could either be weak or bad, or the computer. You know don't you that Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers to another company that did not build very good ones. Your truck year fits that for those bad computers, but what happens is a piece in the computers start to leak, with time it kills off the computer. You can have the computer rebuilt as there is companies on the internet that will do this. But you are right will be costly, but if the truck is worth something then it will have to be fixed. Are you sure the timing belt is not broken? That would keep the truck from starting and also keep you from getting stark. I wish I could do more to help you. Either get a repair manual so the readings you will need if you use a voltmeter to find your problem or go to an AutoZone to have the truck coded for free. Or find someplace in your area that will code the truck for you. With no spark or fuel, sounds more like the computer. Yet then there is the timing belt too. Hope this helps and good luck!
