Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 eclips grinding noise, petroleum oil, waterpump

Question
the noise starts when i turn the car on its a grinding noise that comes from the cerpinteen belt or around that area. when i rev the engine the noise gets louder and when i drive it it doesn't go away. what do i need to do. O i put petroleum oil in the car because of a leek and it would smoke up but now it doesn't, was that ok to do?

Answer
Skyler: Either your belt needs to be replaced as it could be slipping. Or else there is a bearing out what runs the waterpump or power steering or air or the engine. Need to get your car into a shop and get this fixed. Or you could blow your engine. Not a good idea to put petroleum oil in your car, as it could cause a fire. And I am sure you do not want to do that. Hope this helps and good luck!
