Mitsubishi Repair: Engine, fuel injector cleaner, haynes manual

Question
I have purchased a 98 Eclipse for my daughter.  The motor has 30,000 miles.  A couple of weeks ago the car over heated due to the thermostat.  I replaced the thermostat and then the car wouldn't start.  It appears that the plugs are too wet.  I have replaced the plugs, wires, the coolant sensor for the fuel injectors not for the guage.  Now it seems that the car will start about 10 times and then the plugs have to be replaced again.  Once I replace the plugs it is fine for about 10 more starts then they are wet again.  I have put fuel injector cleaner and a gas additive (heet) to help.  Now I seem to have some type of jelly substance in some of the hoses from the carburator.  Once the car starts it runs great.  No loss of power, no hesitating and no stalling....  Help.  I am a single mother and am somewhat mechanically inclined but need some direction...  What about the PCV valve????

Answer
Michelle: Got an AutoZone close by? As I think you should have your car coded and AutoZone will do that for free. That would rule out any sensors being weak or bad. Or else if your computer is weak or going. The computer controls everything, the sensors through out the engine send their reports to the computer and then in but a few seconds it sets things up. You should go out and buy yourself a repair manual, should be able to buy one of those at any parts store for around $20.00. It will lead you through things and what to check. I like the Haynes manual but Chilton is good too. Becareful with putting in to much of that fuel injector cleaner or gas additive as you can mess up the fuel pump. Don't know what the jelly substance might be other than to much of the cleaner and the additive doing this. Your line "but once the car starts it runs great". My son's car did that, and after a coding it was found to have two very important sensors out. Once they were replaced the car starts good and runs good. So have the car coded. See that they shows to you. I will give you my email address if you would like to keep me posted on how you are doing. You could have a vacuum leak but yet it still points to me as a sensor or the car's computer. (oppedal50@yahoo.com)Hope this helps and good luck!
