Mitsubishi Repair: Radiator Fans, radiator fans, temperature switch

Question
The cooling fans on my 1990 Galant will not come on.  I checked the temperature switch on the radiator and it is closed.  There is an ambient temperature switch attached to the fan housing but it appears to be closed also because I read common on both sides.  I replaced the main relay and checked the fuse link and all fuses.

Also for some strange reason during low ambient conditions my inside fan now waits until the water temp in the radiator reaches maximum heat ( halfway between C and H ) before it will come on.  This is driving me crazy because I can't get the fan to come on until I drive the car for a mile or two.

Answer
James: You could change the temperature switch with something that will bring the fans on sooner if that is what you want. Could be that temperature switch has a sensor in it that is bad. Or stuck so it comes on when the car reaches the right temp wich is maxminmum heat. You need to get a repair manual for your car, get one at any parts store around $20.00. It would be able to help you and you can keep checking back for new things that might come up. But could be your car as it has gotten older that switch has got stuck at the temp and so that is when it comes on. If you replaced the switch might fix the problem. Also if the fans are not coming on at all, could be the fan motor is shot. Hope this helps and good luck!
