Mitsubishi Repair: dashboard gauges, coolant, dashboard

Question
the gauges on the dashboard work intermettantly...sometimes if works and lately most of the time it doesn't.  I don't know my speed, gas, rpm, coolant, mileage...everything is blank...i have a 2000 mirage...any ideas what to do...i've done some research and this seems to be a common problem...is there anything i can do that wont cost hundreds?
Any help is greatly appreicated...

I don't know off hand if there is anything you can do directly.  If you want to try to save some money on a repair, call around for estimates before you actually have a mechanic look into the problem.  Ask for labor rates and estimated time to fix this issue.  This can help save money if you know an estimate before taking your car in.
