Mitsubishi Repair: Neutral light flashes when driving, magna wagon, mitsubishi magna

Question
Hi, as the subject says... the neutral light flashes when I drive in "D" or "3", everything is fine if driving on "L" or "2". It's a Mitsubishi magna wagon 1990 (I think). I took it to service and they said is a electronic sensor faulty... what I want to know is if it is fair to pay more than $ 600 (Australian dollars) for that sensor.

Answer
Diego: Look to me that sounds like a lot of money for that sensor. You have a computer, check around and see if you can find that cost. I live in the states and here you can check around for a better cost. But I really don't know about Australian. Look, does this sensor bother how the car drives or goes into gear? Maybe you could just leave it the way it is, other than the light flashes at you. Just a thought on my part. But still I would check around, because that sounds like a lot of money. Sounds like they are going with a Mitsubishi part, I bet if you checked around you might be able to get another company part for less money. I know with my son's car, it needed some sensors replaced and Mitsubishi wanted $500.00 for two of them. We found a junked car at a salvage yard and bought the sensors for $50.00 a piece. And they work just as good, but then don't know if you have salvage yards there. But still an idea. I would check around before I paid that kind of money. Hope this helps and good luck!
