Mitsubishi Repair: alternator, condenser fan motor, pivot bolt

Question
how do you replace an alternator on a 1993 eclipse,1.8 motor, stick shift?

Answer
James: Who told you, that your car needs an alternator? But this is how you do it,detach the cable from the negative termial of battery. On a car with air conditioning, remove the condenser fan motor, if 1.8 motor, remove the drivebelt from air condtioning compressor, remove alternator belt, raise car up on jackstands and make sure it is well supported, remove splash shield from inner fender panel on driver's side of car. Detach the electrical connectors from the back of the alternator, also remove the nut and detach the battery positive cable from the back of the alternator. Working under the car, remove the alternator pivot bolt, working inside the engine compartment, remove the upper mounting bolt and the alternator brace(if equipped). Detach any wiring harness clips and remove the alternator from the car. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. You need to get yourself a repair manual for your car, can buy one at any parts store for around $20.00. Haynes is a good one as it has a lot of pictures and will walk you through things. I copied about how to replace a alternator out of my Haynes' repair manual. Hope this helps and good luck!
