Mitsubishi Repair: 94 egale talyon, head gasket, cylinder head bolts, blown head gasket

Question
HI, my friend just went out and bought a 94 eagle talon 2.0L, front wheel drive, 5 seed.  It has a blown head gasket, and because we are starving high school students, we are going to do the work ourselves.  Now he knows little about cars but im a car nut so its great.  I have searched for the torque specks for the head bolts but i can't find them.  I have even went down to a shop and asked them to look it up on there automotive software but they could not find it.  Another thing is that do i have to worry about the torque degree? Also should i have the heads plained or will it be ok for us just to prep the surface?  Now I know that the car will not be like new because after doing a head gasket, it never is but how hard do you think it can be ran, its not turboed so it will still be pushing the same amount of horsepower, well for now. lol.  im just wondering because we have a lot of plains for the car and we don't want to sink a lot of money into the engine just for it to blow on us.  thanks for your time.

Answer
Raymond:If the car got hot enough to blow the head gasket, could be the head is warped, it should be sent to a automotive repair shop for valve servicing, make sure it's clean before beginning reassembly. For the one that does not know a lot about cars, you need to go and buy a repair manual for this car. Can pick one up at at any parts store for around $20.00. And it will help you both so much. I like Haynes because it walks you through things and it has pictures. I guess if you want to make sure the heads are done right, not saying you two could not do this but if you have all kinds of plans for the car. Then maybe a shop should do this for you. Just a thought on my part, as I know the cost would be something to look at. Torque specks by my book for the cylinder head bolts is 65 to 72. I really think that repair manual would help you both and it would explain things much better than I. Hope this helps and good luck!
