Mitsubishi Repair: 1999 mitsubishi galant will turn over, but not start, mitsubishi galant, battery cables

Question
my 1999 mitsubishi galant 4-cyl will turn over but it will not start. my troubles began during a winter storm two weeks ago. i could not get my car out of the parking lot at my job because of ice. when i picked it up the next day, i had to reset my radio. a couple of days later i was backing out of my driveway and my car stopped. i replaced both the battery and the alternator and it sounds a lot better, but it still will not start. could you please give me some advice or shed some light on the situation? everyone i know who works on cars are telling me different things, so i am totally confused. is it a fuse[s], ignition, fuel? and how would i check these? is it do-it-yourself fixable? please let me know. thanks

Answer
Dana: Oh I always love it when someone's car dies all the help other people want to give you. The fact that you had to reset the radio tells me it is something to do with your battery, but you said you replaced that. Did the shop that did that for you, check your belts too? How are your battery cables? Are they in good shape? Could be your distributor got wet from all that ice and so water. You could get a repair manual from any parts store for around $20.00 and then it will explain what to check. Or else you maybe should take it to a shop and let them do a check. I don't know how much you know about cars, if you have the tools, time and a garage to do all this. I am not saying you can not handle this. But you need this car running too. Hope this helps and good luck!
