Mitsubishi Repair: Central locking Colt 99, mitsubishi colt, auto zone

Question
Ahlo Gardiner,

Alan here, I dont know if you've dealt with this kind of thing but, Im having a little problem(I hope) with my Mitsubishi colt 99's central locking, It seems that the central locking is somewhat weak or something,

for example if I press my central locking button my key chain.. the alarm sets but the doors only seem to lock half way for some reason...

So, I did a little experimenting and turned on the engine then tried to lock the doors and it seems to work fine.

Do you think It might have something to do with a weak battery possibly or could it be in the mechanic?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kind Regards
Alan

Answer
Hi Alan,

Depending on the age, it sounds to me like it could quite possibly be the battery. Does it sound weak when you try to start it? A weak battery could indicate a problematic alternator, too. You may want to drop by and Auto Zone or similar place and have them test both. I believe they can do it with both still in the vehicle.

Good Luck!
