Epitacio:You know your car will be laid up a bit with this work. If you can find a shop that you like and they give you a fair cost to do this. Then go for it. But with a 1993 and I am sure a lot of miles, they may find other things wrong with the engine or maybe not. You should buy yourself a repair manual for your car, at any parts store for around $20.00. It would be well worth the money and would explain to you what has to be done. Hope this helps and good luck!

Answer
Epitacio: Could be or it could be something else. Something to do with your valves even, could be the camshaft well heck it could be anything. I don't know the miles on this car. But the other day a friend bought his 1999 DeVille in with only 80000 miles on it and it has a ticking in the engine. And he wanted me to tell him what that was. Even after the car warms up, the sound is there there. I told him the camshaft. But the thing is without opening up the engine and checking things out; you never know for sure. Has your car lost power? Does it burn oil? Have you checked the oil for water? Other than the ticking noise have you picked up on anything else? You could when you opened up the engine see other things that need to be fixed well have the money to do those things. If you decided to do this yourself. You will need a garage, tools, jack stands and it would be good to have a friend to help you too. You will need a engine puller oh wait something can be done without taking the engine out. But my fear is that once you open that engine up, you will find that it is something else and it will take longer or else you will need to rebuild the whole engine. Maybe you should take it to a few shops and see what they tell you is wrong with the car. Then decide if you have the time, the money and the place to do this. Hope this helps and good luck!
