Mitsubishi Repair: engine problam, mitsubishi eclipse, vacuum lines

Question
Hi I have a 1990 Mitsubishi eclipse awd turbo manual I had recently rebuild the motor   and I had got the block and head cleaned by a machine shop and I had it over bored by .002 with new pistons and rings. I had used the same valves but reseated them, so when I put everything back together it started good and idled good but as I started to drive it smoked a lot of bleu and I mean a lot out of the exhaust when I came to a stop the engine would drop in rpms to about 400 then rise to 800, it would do that about 10 times really fast then goes back to normal. It works fine when I’m driving even when I drive it hard. I had brought it to some mechanics in my town but nobody would look at it because its turbo. I had got the specs for the vacuum lines I had checked them and there good and I checked the ics motor and the tps and all that, I was wondering if the idle problem was because of the large amount of burning oil because the new rings are from ebay so maybe the oil rings are bad? I hope u can figure it out, thanks.

Answer
Matt: I would say either your rings are bad or just not sitting right. That would be the reason you are burning a lot of oil, as the rings are letting the oil pass by. Sounds like you should do a compression check and see what it tells you. But I think someone on ebay sold you bad rings. It sure could be due to the burning of oil. Your engine is not working right because to much oil is passing by the rings, so the computer can not get the rpms set right. Things are not adding up to the computer. As for the turbo I don't understand why a lot of shops won't work on those. Makes no sense to me. Hope this helps and good luck!
