Mitsubishi Repair: NO CLUTCH, piston seal, seal failure

Question
OK i have a 2000 eclipse and my clutch just stopped working. It completely sinks to the floor and i cant shift. It just went out all of a sudden. I dont wanna take it in because i dont have the money so my question is if it is the master or the slave cylinder and how can i tell if its one or the other. Thanks

Answer
Brandon: Need to get yourself a repair manual for your car, they cost around $20.00 and are well worth the money. You can then check to see if it is the master or the slave cylinder. I am not going to write down everything my book says on this. You can get yourself a manual and read it for yourself. It could be a hose/pipe burst or leaking not even the master or slave cylinder. But you need that manual to walk you through what happen just before the clutch let go. It could be a connection leaking, no fluid on the reservoir, could be the master cylinder center valve seal is faulty, if there is fluid on the dust seal at the master cylinder, the piston primary seal is leaking or a broken release bearing or fork. Could be the rear seal failure, release cylinder  piston seal faulty. So this give you some ideas. If you don't have the money to take it to a shop, then this repair manual is the next best thing. Any parts store should have one for your car. Hope this helps and good luck!
