Mitsubishi Repair: 96 Eclipse RS Dying, rough idle, autozone, stoplight

Question
So I bought a 96 Eclipse rs about 2 months ago, and drove it fine for a month and a half, the check engine light came on, and at about the same time, the car quit running. It will drive fine as long as Im driving or gassing. As soon as I let off the gas, it tries or does die. Usually. Sometimes it runs fine though. When I start it, it dies, but if I drive it, while keeping rpms up between shifts, and while stopping, I can drive around. But if I stop at a stoplight, or in the driveway, or anywhere, and let off the gas, it idles down and dies. It also seems that if I am reved up(3000+ rpm), and let off, it drops down to about 200rpms and tries and sometimes is able to go back up to 800 or so, and stay idling without dying, while if Im only at like 1500, then it doesnt drop as low when I let off the gas.

Thanks :)

Answer
Jamie: Get your car coded, that check engine light means that a sensor or the computer is having troubles. So go to any AutoZone and they will code your car for free, you can then see what sensor is out and replace it. Should buy yourself a repair manual, any parts store would have one for around $20.00 but well worth the cost. I like Haynes because they walk you through things. Hope this helps and good luck!
