Mitsubishi Repair: 2002 Galant ES, climate control, valve cover

Question
When adjusting the climate control selector (cool/hot) there's a ticking/clicking noise. Then it takes 4-5 seconds berfore it quits and adjusts to whatever heat/ cool adjustment you made, but never an in-between temp. , it's either all the way warm or all the way cool. Please help, and how much will I expext to pay for parts and labor here in the midwest. The mechanic here in town said I could be without a vehicle for a few days.

Answer
Bryan: You don't say how many miles is on this car, the more miles I see the more problems with such things are climate control selector. Can't say I have heard of one that did not have the same problems are your car. It is either HOT or COLD. Nothing in between. It is really hard to say what the cost will be, because it is not always the parts that cost but rather the labor. I have no idea what this shop charges for labor. Every shop is different. Such as with me, I own a 2001 Dodge mini-van, it needed new valve cover gaskets. I thought I would let the Dodge dealershop do it but wow, they wanted almost $400.00 to do that. Because the rear cover is very hard to get at. I took the van to my brothers and we did it for the cost of the gaskets as well as the gas to get to my brother's. So though I would like to help you, I have no idea. You need to ask the shop for an idea of what it will cost you, get it in writing too. Then if they are going to go over that cost, have them call you first. Besure you get all the old parts to make sure they did do the job too. Some places are not always fair. But then maybe you trust this place, then fine but ask what it will cost you. Parts and labor. Hope this helps and good luck!
