Mitsubishi Repair: Motor, fuel pump relay, vacuum leak

Question
'95 2.4 ltr. Eagle Summit Wagon AWD. Started last spring stalling when pulling into a parking stall. (No pun) Refused to start until the car had sat for five, ten minutes. Strong smell of gasoline.  A real random event. It has evolved into stalling on the highway if you try to accelerate past 3200 RPM. Just flat quits. Same process for a re-start. No check engine light. Nothing in the Shop Manual helps, can you?

Answer
Rich: See if you need to replace the fuel pump relay. Sometimes this either tells the computer to put out to much fuel such as with the strong fuel smell or not enough so the car stalled on the highway. I also did some checking and my book has some other ideas. Idle speed incorrect, fuel filter clogged or water/or impurities in the fuel system, faulty emission system components, faulty stark plug wires and also a vacuum leak. Some other things for your to check. Hope this helps and good luck!
