Mitsubishi Repair: AWD tranny, 4g63 motor, rear differential

Question
I have a 92 galant and im doing a vr4 swap like the 4g63 motor and the awd tranny but my question is do i have to cut anything for the awd tranny to fit since my galant is fwd

Answer
Hello Jose,

I've never worked on an AWD vehicle but know that a 4WD requires more room under the hood. As it's currently a FWD you'll need to install a rear differential and a drive shaft...probably requireing some extensive cutting. I won't say it's an impossible job (just guessing) but it won't be easy either.  It will require some repair experience and if attempted, I would suggest reading up on both vehicles.  It may also require a new ECU for the new engine. All in all it would probably be easier and less expensive to find a nice AWD vehicle.

Good Luck and Have Fun!
