Mitsubishi Repair: car starting probelms, mitsubishi eclipse, becareful

Question
i recently brought a 1991 mitsubishi eclipse, that had been sitting for about 5-6 years and it didnt start of course so i was thinking it is the fuel in it, what is the easiest way to drain the fuel, i tried using a siphon hose i bought but only can get about 3 gallons out of a half of tank. is there a drain plug and where is it. thank you

Answer
Travis:Need to get yourself a repair manual for your car, get one at any parts store. The manual will show you where the plug is and how to do this. Yes there is a drain plug on the tank. You will have to get the car up on jack stands, the plug will on the tank, on the right side of the car. Not on the driver's side of the car but on the other side. Becareful. But you might have to replace the fuel pump that is a long time for it to be sitting in that old fuel. You might have to remove the tank and clean the fuel out it. You will have to replace the fuel filter too. Need to check all the hoses, again a lot of years. Should do a tune up, starks plugs, distributor cap, rotor, and stark plug wires. New air filter.New battery and might have to do the starter with time too. Fuel without being treated for sitting that many years turns bad. So the car will need a good cleaning. You should take the car to a shop to get it road ready again. Five to six years is a long time for a car to have sat. Hope this helps and good luck!
