Mitsubishi Repair: Eclipse, balance shaft, nuetral

Question
I have a 2000 Eclipse I am selling(have a new Miata!)and It has a vibration rumble noise when it is started cold. You don't notice it when it is is nuetral or park as much. The only answer I have been given by the dealerships and other mechanics is that it could be the motor mounts. The car runs GREAT!

Answer
Karen,
Most engines do idle a little rough upon a cold start.  This sometimes has to do with the oil if it's really old, the incorrect viscosity, or insufficient amount.  You may want to do an oil change and see if that helps if you haven't done one within the last 5000 miles, or at least check to make sure you have enough oil.

Worn engine mounts can cause vibration, but it shouldn't cause much more problems than that.  That noise can also be caused by a worn balance shaft belt or even a worn oil pump. None of these items causes any immediate threat to car's operability, but would need to be addressed eventually.
Good luck!
