Mitsubishi Repair: 1991 Mits. Galant, shift linkage, throttle valve

My car when OD button is pushed into overdrive the car acts like you kicked it into neutral. If you let the car slow way down to like 20mph and give it gas it will kick down into 2nd then shift to 3rd then try to go to OD and starts free reving again. It also at idle has the common mis and erratical idle issue probably caused by the IAC sensor. Whats wrong with my trany? OD relay, or internal?

Bruce: There are a lot of ideas in my book, I will throw some out to you.. could be your need to change your fluid and fitler. Does your fluid look brown and smell burnt? Could a problem with the shift linkage, throttle valve cable, could be a relay or sensor getting weak too. Get yourself a manual for your car, a repair manual. Get one at any parts store. And that will walk you through some ideas. I like Haynes the best. If you can not find the problem then take the car to a shop. Hope this helps and good luck!
