Mitsubishi Repair: 1996 Mirage Transmission Problems, loose bolt, tranny fluid

Question
Hello, I have a '96 Mirage and drive (3rd gear I think) is completely out of it I guess.  It will not shift into drive at all and I have to drive it in 2nd gear, not over 40 mph.  When I get between 30-35 mph it will spit and sputter as well, but once I get to 40 it is fine, except for the higher rpm's that I can hear because it won't upshift.  Is there a solution that I can try before I find an import mechanic and pay big bucks for a rebuilt tranny?  It has had the tranny fluid drained and replaced but the filter was not changed when this was done.  Are there any sensors that can be checked or anything along those lines?  Please help and thanks in advance!

Answer
Amber: Look it would be a loose bolt, I did help a guy earier in the month and that was what was wrong with his. So get it to a shop and let them look at it. Who changed the fluid for you? Maybe they did something to it? But if it will not shift than that sounds bad, you need to have a shop look at it. It might be cheaper to get a rebuilt one and put that in. Or else have your's rebuilt. But get a manual for your car and it might explain things to you. But it does not look good to me. You could try changing the filter but I don't think that will help much. But I have been wrong before. Hope this helps and good luck!
