Ronald:You must likely have a sensor or more that is getting weak or out all together. They send reports to the computer and it then can add the right mix of air/fuel so that your car will run right. You need to have your sensors check, got a AutoZone store close by? As they will code your car for free, other wise find a shop that can do that. Or else it might be your computer, as the computer goes bad in cars at times too. Go out and get a repair manual for your car, it too will explain what to look for and how to replace those sensors once you learn which ones are weak or out. If not a sensor, when is the last time your tuned your car up? Plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor? On those older cars they need this too. Hope this helps and good luck!

Answer
Ronald:I only give you ideas in which to check. So here are somemore, vacuum leakage, leaking EGR valve, spark plugs fouled, spark plug wires damaged or shorted, distributor cap/rotor damaged or carbon tracked, air filter clogged, fuel pump not delieveing sufficient fuel to the fuel injection system(had to replace a fuel pump in a 1991 Eclipse I was working on a while back. Need to keep more than a 1/4 tank because the fuel cools the pump and if you run it bone dry before you get fuel everytime. Well you will with time burn out that pump), leaking head gasket, timing belt and or pulleys worn and camshaft lobes worn. I am hoping for something easy and not to costly. Also did you know that Misubishi and another company made the computers in those cars, those computers are not made well. With time a piece in that computer will start to leak though it keeps working, that leaking will burn out other parts in the computer and sometimes that leaking shows up as poor idle. Not saying that is what it is but it does happen. Hope this helps and good luck!
