Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 mitsubishi montero sr, mitsubishi montero, blown fuse

Question
speedometer, volt meter, oil pressure, compass, and tach gauges do not work.  they sit at dead zero, yes they did work in the past.  also the fuel gauge does not work, it reads just about full, which is correct for when the gauges stopped working.  I've checked for a blown fuse, but note that no such fuse exists, or so I believe.  also, and I may be crazy, it seems as though the transmission will not go into overdrive now....it has got to be electrical, but where should I start to look?  any help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Alex: I would say you have a relay out. But then there are other fuses under the hood to check. There should be some up by the firewall in with the engine and over by the battery. Could be a short in where the wires come into all that is out. Fuel gauge is a sending unit, again might be part of the short or not. Need to get a voltmeter, check with that to see what reading you are getting. But first and for most you need to get a manual on your car. It will explain how to do this and walk you through it. Why do you think that the transmission not going into overdrive would have anything to do with your other things not working. I would say your car has problems and they just came on together. You do not explain if your car has a clutch or auto, so hard for me to know why it does not go into overdrive. But if auto, you need to check the oil in transmission, smell it does it smell burnt and what color is it. Should be red in color, if not then try changing it and put on a new filter. Well let's hope it is auto. Hope this helps and good luck!
