Mitsubishi Repair: Fuel or electical problem, fuel pump relay, eagle summit

Question
My 93 eagle summit recently quit running as if it ran out of gas. There was plenty of gas so i kept on tinkering and got it running but could hear a lot of ticking under the console. I found it was the fuel pump relay making all the noise so i changed it out but i still have the problem. So i changed the fuel pump but that did not do any good either. What happens is that you can maybe start the car and it might run for maybe 30 seconds then the fuel pump relay starts to click like crazy and the car eventually shuts off. I have looked for shorts and ground problems but nothing. Would you have any idea what could be the problem or any ideas. Tom

Answer
Sure it was the fuel pump relay making the noise? I worked on a car with about the same problem only it was a 91 Mitsubishi and with that car, the computer was shot. It seems that Mitsubishi made computers with another company, even put them in sidekicks too. But there is parts of the computer that will with time start leaking it's insides out and so cooks the computer. But then it could be some sensor that is shot or getting weak too. But remember to get an engine going, you need three things... air, fuel and stark. Got a AutoZone close and maybe get the car there to have the sensors checked? Or else get a car repair book on your car and a meter then check the codes yourself.  The book explains how to do this and what the codes are. Hope this helps and good luck!
