Question
i have a 1993 Mitsubishi 3000gt, 3.0, SL, automatic. my friend has a 1996 eagle talon and the transmission went out. and i want a turbo for my 3000gt so i was wondering if that turbo would work in my car? the turbo is still in good shape but how much boost does the stock one push out? please help

Answer
Joel,
The short answer is 'no', you cannot swap a turbo from an Eclipse into a non-turbo 3000GT.  An eclipse has an inline 4-cylinder engine with one turbo coming off the single exhaust manifold.  Because the 3000GT has a V6 engine, it has two exhaust manifolds, and that manifold is smaller than that of an Eclipse.  This is why the turbo model of the 3000GT has twin (dual) turbo engines so each exhaust manifold has it's own turbo.  Plus, all the intake plumbing is completely different for the 3000GT as it is on a turbo Eclipse.

A stock turbo on an Eclipse puts out between 9-11 psi of boost.  If you want a turbo setup for your 3000GT, there are really only 3 options:
#1 Swap out your non-turbo 3000GT engine for a Turbo engine (most difficult)
#2 You can purchase a turbo upgrade kit for your engine (less difficult, but can be expensive)
#3 Sell your car and buy a turbo 3000GT (best option, but hard to find, could be expensive)
Good luck!
