Mitsubishi Repair: engine swap, drivetrain components, rear differential

Question
i have a 95 eclipse awd turbo the engine has crank walked 3 times 2 of those times were due to possible bad rebuild(s) I am going to swap out the engine but i havn't decided what to put in it im on a budget.
so first off i was going to put a non-turbo 4g63 will all the sensors read normal as if it was a 4g63 turbo? will a jdm engine have problems running in a domestic car? And being the crank walk is a major problem in 2nd gen. cars would it be worth the effort to drop a 6 bolt in instead. and one last thing I am looking to spend no more then 1100 for the engine any web sites you could refer me to?
thank you for your time

Answer
Cary,
Rarely do I get a question about swapping a turbo engine for a non-turbo engine, but in your situation with your constant crankwalk, I can understand why you'd like to do this.  Simply dropping in a non-turbo engine in would not be too easy.  There are different sensors and even the car's computer would have to be replaced.  Plus, there were no non-turbo models that came with AWD, so you'd also need to replace the transmission, and remove the driveshaft and transfer case.  You'd also need to replace the rear axle; removing the rear differential and replacing it with the rear end of a non-turbo model.  All that would require lots of labor and probably cost more than the $1100 ceiling that you're hoping to stay below.

A JDM engine will run in a domastic car, but finding a decent one for under $1100 may be a little difficult.  A 6-bolt engine would also require a different transmission, other various drivetrain components, and a new computer.  Since you'd consider running the car with a non-turbo engine, you may just want to trade the Eclipse you have now for a non-turbo Eclipse.  It would probably cost less money and save LOTS of time and headaches.

There are several sites you check for Eclipse parts, engines, and even entire cars.  It's http://www.dsmtrader.com .  You can even check another popular forum site  http://www.dsmtalk.com .  They sell items as well.
Good luck!
