Mitsubishi Repair: tranny prob on 95 eclipse, speedometer cable, proper diagnosis

I got a 95 eclipse rs non turbo automatic, the problem is that the transmission doesnt shift to 2nd gear once i start running it just stays there at 1st gear all through out and i end up with a high rpm up to 6000...and my speedometer just stopped working what do think the cause of this problem

The speedometer cable connects to the transmission, so if that is not working, This may indicate your problem is within the transmission.  I would recommend having a transmission shop or the dealership inspect your transmission to get a proper diagnosis.
