Mitsubishi Repair: 5 speed transmission, mitsubishi montero, clutch pedal

Question
I have just purchased a '89 Dodge Raider (Mitsubishi Montero) 3.0 5sp 4x4.  The transmission shifts through the gears, clutch pedal feels fine but the vehicle will not drive.  When the tranny is in gear I can still roll the vehicle like it is in neutral.  Looks like tranny lost fluid.  What could the problem be?  Thank you in advance. Mike

Answer
Mike,
You may want to consider replacing the clutch.  The friction plate may have lost all it's material and it's slipping 100%, or the pressure plate could be broken.  Since the transmission fluid would need to be drained and refilled during the procedure to replace the clutch, you can be sure the tranny would be filled properly once the clutch is replaced.  Be sure to inspect for tranny leaks once filled.
Good luck!
