Mitsubishi Repair: trans, transmission shop, forward movement

1998 mitzi mirage ls coupe. 1.8 ltr auto.. 116,000 miles very well maintained by pros. ( I sell cars)   While driving it went in to a nuetral mode. In park it is fine, but no reverse or forward movement. seem to just pop in to nuetral. Have troble turning ignition off, I need to put it in park 3 or 4 times, but not very often

This sounds like your cable linkage for your transmission may have failed.  I would recommend having a transmission shop or the dealership inspect your transmission.  They may have luck simply fixing or replacing the cable linkage.  But there is a possibility they will recommend to have your transmission rebuilt or replaced.
