Mitsubishi Repair: 92 Laser headlight buzzer, buzzer circuit, mitsubishi dealership

Question
You answered my previous inquiry regarding the headlight chime on the Laser and said they didn't have one, well, page 40 of the owners manual states that when the key is removed while the headlights are on, a buzzer will sound to remind you to turn off the lights.

Answer
Bob,
If indeed you do have a headlight reminder buzzer, it's most likely the same buzzer used when the seat belt is not buckled when you first start the car and when you turn off the car and the key is still in the ignition.  If you hear the buzzer in these other two circumstances, then the buzzer itself is ok.  You should also try the test where you start up your car and turn on the headlights.  While the car is running, get out and make sure all the headlights and parking lights are illuminated.  Now, leaving the lights switched ON, turn off your car and remove the key.  Get out, and see if the headlights and parking lights are still on.  If the headlights are off, but the parking lights are still on, then my initial theory of there not being a reminder is valid.  But if the headlights remain on, then there probably is a buzzer circuit.

I do have the factory service manual specifically for the 92 Laser, and there is no wiring schematic that shows a circuit for a headlight reminder buzzer, nor a related fuse.  This manual is for Lasers manufacturered for the US and Canada.

So unfortunely, I could not even tell you a fuse or other circuit it may be tied to.  You may have luck contacting your local Mitsubishi dealership or Plymouth/Dodge dealership and asking the service manager what you can check for.
Good luck!
